ORCA Age-group Water Polo:

The age group program at ORCA is built around the foundation of water polo basics. Here at ORCA our age group athletes will be taught how to play a fundamentally sound game of water polo, while learning the rules and regulations, building and maintaining the strength and stamina it takes to play water polo, and learning responsibility and sportsmanship during our practices/seasons. Our athletes in the age group program will have many opportunities to test their newly acquired skills within scrimmages, games, and tournaments as well. It is our goal to produce quality athletes that the coaches are proud to say they have coached. We want our age group athletes to be sought after by high school coaches and to represent ORCA with the sportsmanship and class that every athlete should be held accountable for.

ORCA High School Water Polo:

The High School group at ORCA is geared toward honing individual skills required to be successful at the high school and collegiate level. While further developing individual skills, the high school group also will learn and build upon the different aspects of counter attack, 6 on 5, offense and defense. Along with tactics, strength and condition is a crucial aspect of our sport. That being said, about 30-45 minutes of every practice will be dedicated to conditioning and abdominal work. The coaching staff at ORCA wants to prepare the high school athletes for their upcoming high school season and for college recruiting if they wish to play at the next level. It is our goal to place our athletes at the top universities for water polo.

Attendance Policy:

In order for your child to develop into the best water polo player they can possibly be, they must attend practice. We expect our athletes to maintain a higher quality of accountability and attendance then most other clubs. This is a sport, and it takes dedication. If we always have athletes missing practice we will never be able to develop the athletes as individuals or the cohesiveness and team play it takes to be a championship team. We understand that the athletes are busy with other activities, but the coaching staff is extremely dedicated to our cause and we expect the same out of our athletes. If an athlete is going to miss practice, we ask that the athlete communicate that to their coach via email. The coaches spend numerous hours planning drills and entire practices based on our enrollment. If half our team does not show up to practice, then all that planning goes to waste. Finally, we ask that our athletes are punctual to games and practices. We only have an allotted amount of time to work with the athletes; we do not want that to be wasted due to the athletes being late. We ask that the athletes show up to practice about 10 minutes before the scheduled start. In regards to games, the coaches will let the players know when to be on the pool deck (usually 30-45 min before game time).

Seasons:

Although we are a year-round program, our seasons are broken up into quarters, with August being an off month.  We also take about three weeks off during the Christmas and New Years holidays. The seasons are broken up as follows:

January – March; Winter Season

March – June; Spring Season

June – August; Summer Season

September to December; Fall Season

Program Cost:

ORCA membership dues for each season are $300. Sibling discounts are offered at $50 off the second child, $100 off the third child and $150 off the fourth child.  Each member must also register directly with US Water Polo at a cost of $70 per year.

NOTE: The $300 seasonal fee does not include the cost of tournaments, which will vary depending on the caliber of tournament. Tournament fees will be required for participating players.  Information regarding tournament fees will be provided as the tournaments are scheduled throughout each season.
