SOCAL LC MEET BRINGS MORE NEW RECORDS

Records were meant to be broken. And break them they did.  The torch was passed many times this weekend at the Tustin High School pool. Like the time honored Olympic tradition, the global passing of the torch, athletes in a spirit of solidarity, cooperation, fair competition, and gracious winning, pass on to other generations and to other teams, the invitation to be stronger, faster, and better than their predecessors.  Swimming, like other individual/team sports, provides its athletes a unique opportunity and responsibility to appreciate that while it is possible to prepare, train, and compete as an individual, to do so as a team provides benefits beyond what can be accomplished alone.  One such benefit is the passing of the torch, or, the records (and the All-Time Top Five Times) set by predecessors waiting to be broken. ORCA coaches have encouraged this approach in fostering healthy competition among its athletes.  So, during this last meet, Clarissa Hoyt broke Jesse Hill’s record, Jesse broke Hailey Golden’s record, and Hailey took up the torch four times and broke three records set by Madison Tedesco, and one belonging to Kelly Van Train from 1994!  We, as a team, cheered, applauded, and celebrated their successes, and as a team, they grew stronger, faster, and better than they could have been alone. These and other reported performances are detailed below.
